I’m finally done with this. I feel like I’ve been listening to it for ages. It just went on and on and on. At the end I was listening to it more out of an obligation to finish it than out of interest.

The story was interesting. The characters were unique, especially a heroine. But this was barely a romance. It’s more a spy novel with romantic elements. And there wasn’t even enough espionage to hold it together that way. Though there were some interesting bits.

The romance was unconvincing. I have no earthly reason to believe they actually fell in love with each other, unless you want to account for Stockholm syndrome. There were no feels, no steam. There were no feelings of falling in love. As readers, were merely just told they’re in love. Never shown. The sex was terrible and mostly closed door. It left a lot to be desired, romance wise. Hell, it left everything to be desired romance wise.

If I’d read this instead of listening to it, I wouldn’t have finished it due to the lack of romance. But listening to it kept me entertained enough while driving to work and back. The narrator was good. Able to pull off many accents. And even read with emotion at times. I hated her hero voice though.

So 3 stars for being entertaining enough to finish the it.
