Sex Scene Length: 🍆🍆

I’m sorry I can’t give this book the longer review that it’s due. But I’m heading out on vacation today and I know if I don’t do it now I’ll never get to it.

This is an m/m book. I haven’t read one in a while and I got this on audiobook to listen to. It was really different than most of the books I go for. Mainly because there was a magic and mystery element that typically makes me run the other direction. While I still thought some of that was silly, I also liked it more than I expected. Some of it was fun and some of it inspired visuals I don’t typically get in a book.

The heroes, Stephen and Lucian, were opposites attract types. I loved their characters and enjoyed getting to know them. They were really unique. Lucian was a sort of like a polished lord with a bad boy background, but maintained a youthful exuberance for life. Stephen was from the opposite side of the street. Gritty and powerful but packed inside a boyish frame. It was an interesting dichotomy.

My biggest let down of this book is just that I wanted more feels. More sexual tension. I could tell they wanted each other because it was said but it didn’t jump off the page the way some other books do. I wasn’t sure why they fell in love with each other, to be honest. And the sex was only ok. Sort of hot but sort of not at the same time. Very mechanical while at the same time being brushed over. And little emotion involved. Had the emotional side been amped up, I’d have liked it more.

It also ended really abruptly. The end felt rushed and I was surprised it was over.
